Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Warns That Car Hacking Is a Real Risk

FBI issues car-hacking warning, tells drivers to keep their cars' patch-levels current.It could be significant, experts warn, including the possibility of your car being driven off the road. Hackers can easily trick self-driving cars into thinking that another car, a wall or a person is in front of them, potentially paralysing it or forcing it to take evasive action. "The FBI and NHTSA are warning the general public and manufacturers – of vehicles, vehicle components, and after-market devices – to maintain awareness of potential issues and cyber security threats related to connected vehicle technologies in modern vehicles," the agencies said in the bulletin.
