A drunken girl laughed in the face of pain when she was pictured chortling at her own eye-popping arm injury.

The woman from Denver, Colorado, snapped one bone in her arm and dislocated another.

But because she was being treated in a private hospital her medical bill might wipe the smile off her face.

It's estimated to come in at anywhere between £3,500 and £50,000.

Under the US health care system, the cost of treatment is either covered by insurance or by the patient themselves.

The woman is believed to have broken one bone and dislocated another.

Images of the injury were posted on Reddit by site user QuercusPercus, who said the woman was her room-mate.

"She broke her ulna and dislocated her radius," her post claimed.

"No health insurance, so I think the bill will be more terrifying than this picture."

The girl is reported to have undergone surgery some 16 hours after the photo was taken.
